Not because they don't have great stories, they absolutely do. But between safeguarding responsibilities, media consent processes, limited time, and not knowing where to start, content either doesn't happen or doesn't do the school justice.
And, when you do bring someone in to film, the last thing you need is a videographer who doesn't understand your environment, makes staff nervous, or hasn't thought about permissions.
I’m Ros Harrison, founder of Harrison Media Solutions.
I'm not just a videographer. I'm a creative with over 20 years of experience working with children and young people in the local authority.
I understand your environment. I know how to work with children and young people in a way that puts everyone at ease.
My background is in theatre directing. That means I think about narrative, audience and storytelling in a way that most videographers simply don't. The result is content that doesn't just look professional, it feels authentic and reflects the real heart of your school.
For schools:
Schools already have media consent processes in place, but applying them confidently on a live filming day is a different matter entirely. When you hire me to film, media consent and safeguarding compliance are included as standard. I work alongside your existing policies, supporting staff to implement them correctly on the day so nothing is left to chance and everyone, children, staff and parents can feel completely confident.

For external organisations coming into schools:
Do you deliver sessions, workshops or programmes in schools and want to capture what you do on film? Filming in a school environment comes with specific safeguarding and consent responsibilities that sit with you as the visiting organisation — not the school. I work with external services to plan and manage this properly, from pre-visit consent briefings to on-the-day filming, so you can focus on delivering your session while I take care of everything else.
Child-focused organisations:
Organisations such as Scouts, Brownies, youth clubs and similar settings have the same safeguarding and consent responsibilities as schools when it comes to filming. I work with organisations like yours to plan and manage this properly, from consent workflows to on-the-day filming, so you can focus on what you do while I make sure everything is captured safely and compliantly.

Media consent is built into every project from the very start. Before a camera is switched on, I work alongside your existing consent processes to make sure everything is in order. I support staff to implement them correctly on the day, brief any external visitors on their responsibilities and handle every safeguarding consideration as standard. You do not need to manage this separately. It is part of what you get when you work with me.
Yes, absolutely. I work with primary schools, secondary schools, academies and multi-academy trusts. I also work with child-focused organisations including scouts, brownies, youth clubs, sports clubs, arts organisations and charities that deliver sessions or programmes for children. If your setting works with young people, I can help.
Yes. Multi-venue projects are something I do regularly. If you are a multi-academy trust, a charity working across several sites, or an organisation with sessions running in different settings, I can plan and manage the full production across all locations. Every site gets the same careful approach to safeguarding and consent. Get in touch and we will build a production plan that works for your specific situation.
Everything you need for the platforms you actually use. That includes full-length promotional films, short-form social media reels and clips, subtitled versions, B-roll footage and still images where required. If you need content formatted for a specific platform or use, just let me know at the planning stage and I will make sure it is included in the delivery.
It depends on the size and complexity of the project. A single-day school production typically takes two to three weeks from initial conversation to final delivery, allowing time for pre-production planning, filming and editing. Multi-venue or more complex projects will take longer. I will always give you a clear timeline at the start so you know exactly what to expect and when.
Safeguarding is not something I have learned about from the outside. I have spent over twenty years working in and alongside schools and child-focused organisations. I hold current CPD-certified safeguarding training through the NSPCC, including their specialist course on photographing and filming children, and I am a professional member of SACPA, the Safeguarding and Child Protection Association. Every project I take on is planned and delivered in line with KCSiE 2024, ICO guidance and DfE requirements. When you work with me, you are working with someone who understands your responsibilities because they are my responsibilities too.
